Motorhome Hire Brighton

A health resort since at least 1730, Brighton really came into its own when King George IV adopted the city as the unofficial location for his summer court, building the extravagant Pavilion in the process. Much more laid back than the nearby capital, it often ranks as the happiest place in the UK, and has a sizable gay population alongside serious green credentials including a myriad of cycle lanes.

Brighton is surrounded by some wonderful areas of natural beauty, including several nature reserves and the picturesque walking country of the National Trust’s Devil’s Dyke, perfectly reachable with motorhome hire Brighton. Brighton is also within easy reach of the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is riddled with footpaths and bridleways as well as some of the south of England’s finest views.

Getting to Brighton

London Gatwick Airport is only 20 minutes north of Brighton. One of the busiest single-runway airports in the world, it receives flights from almost every airline of significance in Europe. It is a hub airport for both British Airways and EasyJet. The main route into and out of Brighton is the A23, which runs north from the shore, where it connects up with the west-east running A27, and then the M23 outside the town of Crawley near the airport. Additionally, you can get to your Brighton campervan hire by rail, with regular services at least twice an hour to London Bridge, London Victoria and London St Pancras International. Almost all of them stop at Gatwick Airport on route.

Parking in Brighton

Parking is always a problem with campervan rental Brighton, as a result of its narrow, historic streets. The largest car parks are located on London Road and King Street, although they have a maximum height limit of 2.1 meters. Unofficial but generally accepting campervan parking can be found on Roedeen Road just behind the marina, while an alternative spot is the seafront road west of the twin town of Hove. Closer to the centre of Brighton, the coach park on Madeira Drive (behind the naturist beach) can accommodate 5-6 campervans after hours, with free parking from 6 pm until 9 am.
