One of the UK’s leading tourist destinations, Leeds lays claim to the nickname ‘the capital of the North’. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is less than 35 kilometres from the attractions of the city centre, which include the Royal Armouries Museum and the waterfronts of the River Aire and the rejuvenated docks. The heart of the city is around Millennium Square, which boasts regular concerts during the summer and an ice rink each Christmas. The partially-covered Victoria Quarter offers some of the best shopping outside of London, whatever the British weather is doing.
Leeds lies relatively centrally within England, around 270 kilometres north of London along the M1 motorway and just an hour away from Manchester along the M62. Both are met by the M621, which takes traffic towards the centre of the city, perfect for getting to your motorhome hire in Leeds. Leeds railway station on New Station Street sees trains arrive from London St Pancras International roughly every 30 minutes. Services also connect it with everywhere, from Edinburgh in Scotland, to Penzance in Cornwall. Leeds Bradford International Airport is located approximately 13 km north-west of the city. It has regular connections with around 70 different destinations in Europe and is a major hub for Jet2 and Ryanair.
The centre of Leeds has been pedestrianized. It is surrounded by the one-way clockwise-flowing Loop Road, which provides access to the railway station, bus station and Millennium Square. Outside of this area, Hunslet Lane Car Park is open 24-hours a day and has no height restrictions. Parking costs approximately €1.20 per hour. You’ll be surer of finding a space for your motorhome rental in Leeds at the International Pool car park on Westgate, although it costs around €2 per hour. On the outskirts of the city, vehicles under 2.35 m in height are able to park securely at the Elland Road and Temple Green Park and Ride sites. Parking is free and buses (around €2 per person one way) run every 8-15 minutes in either direction throughout the day.
