Thinking of Cologne automatically brings to mind the Cologne Carnival. This is the most prominent event, but Cologne has so much more to offer. The city is located to the South of the Ruhr area, and it is part of a heavily populated region, with numerous other major cities only a few kilometers away.
Cologne has about one million citizens and with that, it is Germany’s fourth-largest city. The Cologne Cathedral is the distinctive landmark of the city.
The people of Cologne like to celebrate, love their city full-heartedly, and they enjoy being different from the rest of Germany. They love using their very own dialect “Kölsch” to confuse visitors and on top of that, they like to consume their very own brew “Kölsch” beer.
RV rental Cologne is super easy! Cologne lies in the South of the Ruhr area in the West of Germany. As the most important traffic and industry hub in Germany, Cologne can be reached easily. From the borders to the Netherlands, for example, Maastricht, you travel about one hour eastward on the A4 to reach Cologne. From Belgium, it is also about a one-hour drive to cologne via the A4. It takes about 6 hours via the A2 coming from the capital Berlin, and it also takes 6 hours via the A9 & A3 to reach Cologne coming from Munich.
Cologne has an international airport with air traffic from other European cities. However, there are several other airports in the Ruhr area.
Busses and trains also reach Cologne easily coming from other cities in Germany, the Netherlands, or Belgium.
As in other major cities, campervan rental Cologne has, by comparison, many parking spaces available. However, finding a parking space during a business week in the inner city is often difficult.
The most favorable parking garages in the city are the Parkhaus Bazaar de Cologne at the Wochenmarkt (€2 per hour), the Parkhaus Brückenstraßen (€2.20 per hour) and the Ampido Parkhaus Belgisches Viertel (€1.90 per hour).
Outside the city, there are some Park and Ride parking lots, such as in Bocklemünd and Köln-Müngersdorf. Watch out, those sometimes have time limits.
